Hurricane Katrina had a devastating physical effect on the infrastructure of the Gulf Region stretching for miles. In addition, the stain of death, health concerns, mental anguish, and fear in the hearts of the people living in the area was for more destructive than most people imagined. The destructive impact of hurricane Katrina touched the hearts of people around the world.

After assisting the American Red Cross in the Gulf Region in Sept 2005, some Pastors from Newark NJ and surrounding areas returned home wondering what more could they do to help. It was to this end that Churches for Disaster Relief was organized.

Undertaking an exploratory trip in the Gulf region, we met with some Pastors in the New Orleans LA area to determine how we could help. Thus, our Journey begins.

The exploratory trip, November, 2005.

These pictures below do not do justice to the total of the devastation and destruction, only an example of what we experienced in 2005.
